Words to start your week

People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.

Another version of this sentiment - including other attributes - hangs on a wall of the orphanage Mother Theresa founded in Calcutta. Its source is unknown.

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

People may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
It is never between you and them anyway

I also suggest listening to Martina McBride's song, "Anyway" if you're looking for inspiration with a musical lift. McBride wrote the lyrics and music for this deserving megahit!

    Ahh this is such spiritual thinking. Thanks ceep, for sharing. You often hear people say: "You'll get your reward in heaven," and it can often seem that heaven is the *only* place you'll get it, because of the cynicism, short-sightedness and self-centred approach of so many people in this life. But it's so true that you should "do it" anyway. Because it's the right thing, because you feel good doing it, and, ultimately, because no good deed ever goes unrewarded. Eventually.

    Hear, hear, digger.

    I do it so I can feel good inside - especially when others may not appreciate what I do or say!

    I don't want to look back on my life having regrets about what I woulda, coulda, shoulda!
